“Around Galveston, they call her Frenchie the Sassy Sea Pirate—the high-heeled island gypsy who chases dolphins, steals hearts, and knows the secrets hiding in the harbor.”

No one in Galveston can quite agree on when the story of Frenchie the Sassy Sea Pirate truly began.

Some say it started the first time she stepped onto the docks at the Pier of the Harbor in heels instead of deck boots, with the wind whipping through her hair and a smile that looked like she knew something the rest of the harbor did not.

Others swear it began long before that—before Pittsburgh, before real estate, before four children, busy mornings, and a life built around schedules, contracts, and closing tables.

They say her story actually began decades ago, in the waters surrounding the old SS Selma.

Where the Story Really Begins

The SS Selma has always been one of Galveston’s strangest and most mysterious places.

Half-sunken and weathered, resting in the bay like a ghost that refused to leave, she has watched over the harbor for generations.

Fishermen tell stories about her. Captains glance toward her when the fog rolls in. And hidden somewhere within those stories is another name whispered through Galveston history: Clemsey “Frenchy” LeBlanc.

The old harbor men say Frenchy LeBlanc knew every current in Galveston Bay. He knew where the fish ran, where the storms turned, and where the dolphins would surface before sunrise. They say he spent so much time around the SS Selma that he could practically hear the old ship speak.

Some believed Frenchy LeBlanc wasn’t simply drawn to the Selma. He was called to her.

Then Another Frenchie Arrived

Many years later, another Frenchie arrived in Galveston. Only this one wore high heels instead of work boots.

She came from Pittsburgh—a woman with a big laugh, a fierce heart, four children, enormous dreams, and just enough stubbornness to chase something that did not make sense to anyone else.

Everyone asked her the same questions: Why Galveston? Why dolphins? Why the harbor?

And Frenchie never quite knew how to answer. Because how do you explain a place that feels like home before you have ever truly lived there? How do you explain why your heart pulls you toward the water every time you leave? How do you explain why, while standing on the docks of Galveston Harbor, you feel as though you have stood there before?

Frenchie would laugh, toss her hair, and say: “I think there’s pirate blood in me somewhere.”

She meant it as a joke. At least, she thought she did.

A Name Hidden in the Family Tree

Until one day, while tracing the distant branches of her family tree, she uncovered a name she had heard whispered around the harbor.

LeBlanc.

There it was—woven through a distant line of her own family history. The connection was separated by generations, faded records, marriages, and miles, but it was there: Frenchie was a distant relative of the legendary Frenchy LeBlanc.

Suddenly, the pull she had always felt toward Galveston did not seem so impossible. Perhaps it wasn’t simply a dream that had brought her there. Perhaps it was something passed down through her blood. A love of the water. A stubborn spirit. A heart that belonged to the harbor.

Maybe Frenchy LeBlanc had left behind more than stories. Maybe he had left a calling—one that traveled quietly through generations until it finally reached the woman who carried his name, his adventurous spirit, and perhaps even a little of his pirate soul.

Frenchie’s Heart’s Desire

The harbor became Frenchie’s Heart’s Desire. Not the kind of heart’s desire made of gold, jewels, or hidden treasure maps.

Her treasure was simpler than that. It was children laughing as dolphins leapt beside the boat. It was families making memories they would never forget. It was standing at the helm with the salty wind against her face, one hand on the wheel and one fabulous heel planted firmly on the deck, knowing she was exactly where she was meant to be.

Because Frenchie the Sassy Sea Pirate was never chasing treasure. She was chasing wonder. And the dolphins seemed to know it.

The Dolphins Seemed to Remember

The captains began telling stories. They said the dolphins followed her boat differently. When Frenchie was on the water, they came closer—closer than usual—as though they recognized her. As though somewhere, somehow, they remembered another Frenchy.

The old-timers at the harbor would smile whenever they saw her.

“There goes Frenchie,” they’d say. “Looks like the bay finally called one of its own home.”

And maybe it had.

When the Harbor Remembers Your Name

Sometimes, when the sun begins to set over Galveston Bay and the sky turns pink and gold, Frenchie can see the outline of the old SS Selma resting in the distance.

For just a moment, with dolphins cutting through the water and the harbor glowing around her, she imagines an old pirate standing upon that weathered ship, tipping his hat with a knowing grin.

As if Frenchy LeBlanc had been waiting all along. Waiting for another Frenchie. Waiting for the distant daughter of his family line—the woman with the high heels, the enormous heart, and the wild dream.

The woman who followed a mysterious pull from Pittsburgh all the way to Galveston. The woman who came to the island believing she was starting a new adventure, only to discover that she was continuing an old one.

Frenchie the Sassy Sea Pirate did not come to Galveston to hunt for treasure. She came because the harbor remembered her name.

And because, after all those generations, the sea was finally calling one of its own back home.

Come Experience the Harbor for Yourself

Maybe you’ll see the dolphins. Maybe you’ll hear one of the old stories. And maybe, somewhere between the salty breeze, the glowing Galveston sunset, and the outline of the SS Selma in the distance, you’ll understand why Frenchie fell in love with the harbor in the first place.
